S. from 1928 - 1935. Beginning in 1921 as the Weaver Aircraft Company they moved to Troy in 1924 and became the Advance Aircraft Company keeping the Waco logo. Built in 1930, this airplane is the oldest flying in Western Canada, and one of a few Waco INF's in the world. It was originally used for "corporate flying" by a Seattle based washing machine salesman, and visited B.C. air shows in the 1930's. The Fairchild 71 was originally built in the United States from 1928-1930. A second Canadian factory was built in Montreal Quebec in 1929, to supply the Canadian bush flying industry. Ottawa Flying Club The first powered flight over Ottawa occurred in 1911, but a landing field wasn't established at what is now the Ottawa International Airport until the 1920s.Initially known as Hunt Club Field, the site quickly gained significance in aviation history.In July 1927, as Canada celebrated its Diamond Jubilee of Confederation, Charles Lindbergh arrived in Ottawa in the Spirit of St. Louis (Ryan N-X-211) at the invitation of Prime Minister William Lyon Mackenzie King. Lindbergh, accompanied by a 12-aircraft escort, landed at the Hunt Club Field, which was subsequently renamed Lindbergh Field to honour this landmark visit.
